Background of DNA
Accountants
Ian and Gillian met as young 21 year olds in
the main audit room of Ernst & Whinney (as
it was then) in 1985. They both qualified as Chartered
Accountants (managing to squeeze in a wedding
during exams!) and then followed different career
paths at Ernst – Ian joined the Corporate
Advisory department and Gillian went into personal
tax in the Small Businesses Unit and took her
tax exams to become a member of the Chartered
Institute of Taxation.
Once Jessica joined the French family in 1992,
Ian moved to BG Exploration and Production in
the Finance team and Gillian went to work for
Andrew Nevill of Denyer Nevill in Epsom on a part
time basis. Josh then joined the clan in 1994.
In 1996, the opportunity arose to move to Milan
with BGE&P where we lived for 3 years enjoying
la dolce vita and learning to speak Italian (always
easier after a bottle or two of Chianti!).
We moved back to Epsom in 1999 and the opportunity
arose for Gillian to become Andrew Nevill’s
partner at Denyer Nevill. In 2002, Ian had had
enough of life in industry and we both bought
out Andrew and incorporated the business to become
Denyer Nevill Accountants Limited.
Since then we have had an office move to Walton
on the Hill and have taken on Elaine to join us
with Gavin there. We also decided to change our
trading name at the time of the office move and
are now known as DNA Accountants (easier to spell
and say!).
